A Dictionary of all course terms is included, as well as a fully featured Resource Kit. The Resource Kit contains templates that help parents create Birth Plans, prepare for doctor visits, choose baby names, organize baby showers, and design birth announcements. It also offers video coverage of an actual birth.
Each labor lesson identifies what to expect and uses specialists to teach coping techniques. For example, a physician discusses the best positions for delivery, while a nurse demonstrates pain relief options during contractions. Further lessons describe and model postpartum care for new mothers and their babies. Techniques for baby feeding and breast care round out the courseware component of the program.
The course models and demonstrates useful techniques: how to relieve pain during contractions, how a partner can assist with labor and delivery care giving, how to give medicine to a baby, how to breast-feed, and how to prepare formula. You can take an active role in your learning via video clips, sound, and graphics to get maximal benefit from the cadre of techniques and helpers we have placed at your disposal.
